TOtto Preminger brings and all-star cast to Washington to shoot Alan Drury’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel Advise & Consent (1962).

Set against the political atmosphere of the Kennedy Years, the cast includes Henry Fonda, Walter Pidgeon, Don Murray, George Grizzard, Paul Ford , Gene Tierney in her first role after a five year bought with mental illness and Charles Laughton in his final screen appearance. The plot focuses on a controversial political appointment whose ramifications include accusations of Communism, blacklisting, blackmail, homosexuality and all sorts of political intrigue. It’s a fascinating look at politics during what seemed to be a magical era and interesting to contemplate what was relevant then and what is relevant now. Steve Hayes
